MPS Officer Standards and Training

Our techniques and technology provide our clients with the assurance that the job will be performed to near law enforcement standards! In order to maintain this exceptionally high standard, MPS utilizes three simple philosophies:

1. Careful Officer Selection - All applicants must be licensed through the State of Florida prior to employment. Preference is given to applicants with prior law enforcement, military experience or training. Comprehensive background investigations are conducted by our experienced in-house investigators and are also vetted through the United States Customs and Border Patrol and the United States Coast Guard. Pre-employment drug screening and psychological evaluations are also part of our employment process.

2. Thorough Officer Training - Instructors certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), The State of Florida Division of Licensing, American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), American Heart Association (AHA) are on staff insuring that our officers receive the proper, and comprehensive training that not only meets, but exceeds legal and industry minimum standards. Officers also receive field training in addition to classroom training to further enhance the officers' effectiveness and provide performance continuity.

3. High discipline standard - Every officer is provided with an MPS comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures manual that details our company standards. Officers are closely supervised by experienced field supervisors and administrative staff that are always available to assist officers with any questions or potential situation. MPS also utilizes multiple techniques and programs that further motivates officers to have the desire to excel in their chosen field.
Field Training Officers (FTO)
Our Field Training Program is based on a program called the "San Jose Method" that many law enforcement agencies used as a model for training new recruits at street level for many years. MPS implements a condensed version of this method that provides our officers with On-The-Job or "Real World" training after the "classroom" instruction is complete. Our Field Training Officers (FTOs) are selected based on their experience, training and work performance. These FTOs are responsible for assuring the trainee meets the minimum required standards for the assigned duty, conducting written training evaluations and reporting the trainees' progress to the MPS administrative staff. FTOs have the responsibility and authority to disqualify any trainee that does not meet the MPS minimum standards.
